Palo Alto Comprehensive Plan Amendment

East Meadow Circle Workshop Update

workshop 2The second workshop for the East Meadow Circle / Fabian Way Concept Plan, a part of the Palo Alto Comprehensive Plan Amendment process, was held on Thursday night, April 30th at the Palo Verde Elementary School Auditorium.  Approximately 75 people attended the workshop. The workshop began with a presentation giving an overview of the project and a brief summary of the first East Meadow Workshop, held on January 29th (a summary of which is available here).

The presentation  gave an overview of five alternatives for the Concept Plan area.  These alternatives cover the East Meadow Circle subarea, the East of San Antonio Road subarea, the Charleston Road subarea, construction of a multiuse trail along Adobe Creek and improved  access to the Baylands.  The presentation is available here (3 MB pdf). Participants were also given a workbook describing each of the five alternatives with text and graphics.  The workbook is available here (6 MB pdf) .

Following the presentation, participants broke into eight small groups to discuss the five topics.  Representatives from these breakout groups then reported back to the larger group.  There was general support for several of the proposed alternatives, with some additional modifications.  Several of the groups stated that any new buildings in the East Meadow Circle subarea should be appropriately scaled in relation to adjacent one story single-family homes.  There was also general support for a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge across the 101, connecting the Baylands to the rest of Palo Alto.

A full workshop summary taken from the notes generated during the breakout groups will be posted to this website shortly.
