Palo Alto Comprehensive Plan Amendment

Report from the first East Meadow Circle Workshop

workshop photoOver 100 people attended the first workshop intended to develop a Concept Plan for the East Meadow Circle/Fabian Way area of Palo Alto on Thursday night, January 29th, at Palo Verde Elementary School.  The workshop began with a presentation that introduced the Palo Alto Comprehensive Plan Amendment process and identified some key issues related to the Concept Plan Area, followed by questions and comments from the audience.

Participants, many of whom live in the residential neighborhoods adjacent to the Concept Plan Area, then broke into small groups to discuss their ideas, opinions and concerns for the Area.  Small group discussions touched on issues of land use, transportation, open space and public services.  However, the most prominent issue discussed was the development of high-density housing in the Concept Plan Area in recent years.  There was strong support among workshop participants for preventing the development of additional high-density housing in the future.  A summary of the main issues discussed at the meeting is available here.

The City is planning a second workshop in March to continue the conversation started at this workshop.
